Salem is committed to showing Christ’s love to people through Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministers are members/attenders of our congregation who receive special training to provide one-to-one Christian care to people who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss or financial pressures, parenting or marital issues and many other life difficulites. The Stephen Minister and Care Receiver meet weekly for approximately one hour; this relationship is confidential, free of cost and open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.
Stephen Ministers and Stephen Ministry leaders meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month for continuing education, accountability and support.
The PBS “Religion and Ethics” news show recently aired an eight-minute feature on Stephen Ministry that vividly describes the life-changing ministry happening in thousands of congregations.
